Press Release Summary: HISCO Design/Build of Merriam, Kansas, named Regional 2008
Contractor of the Year for a Residential Interior $100,000 and Under by the National
Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).

Press Release Body: HISCO Design/Build, in Merriam, Kansas, was named Regional
winner in the 2008 Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award competition in the
Residential Interior $100,000 and Under category. The awards are part of an annual
competition held by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).
HISCO Design/Build also won 'Honorary Mention' for the same Lower Level Remodel
under $100,000 project in the Kansas City NARI Chapter's Remodel of the Year (REMY)
contest. This '2008 Regional Contractor of the Year' project has also been featured
in the Kansas City Homes & Garden magazine in the January/February issue. This same
homeowner who contracted HISCO Design/Build to remodel their lower level has also
contracted HISCO Design/Build to add a swimming pool, cabana, two covered decks,
outdoor kitchen and courtyard to the exterior of their home and will also be
featured in the May/Jun issue of Kansas City Homes & Garden magazine.
Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards on an annual
basis, and all regional winners will now be eligible for National CotY Awards at
NARI's Evening of ExcellenceSM on March 15 at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront in
St. Petersburg, Florida. Most projects submitted for judging were an improvement or
an addition to an existing structure, with the exception of one category,
"Residential Exterior Specialty." Otherwise, new construction projects were not
eligible. In addition, competing projects were completed between July 1, 2006 and
November 30, 2007 (a 17-month time period) and were not submitted in prior NARI
National contests. Judging for regional awards took place at the Association's
national headquarters in Des Plaines, Illinois, in mid-January. An impartial panel
of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields selected winners
based on each entrant's "before and after" photography and project description.
Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship,
innovation, degree of difficulty, and entry presentation.
Trophies will be awarded at the 2008 Evening of ExcellenceSM in St. Petersburg on
March 15, 2008, where National CotY Winners and Achievement Award Winners will also
be announced and awarded.
The Evening of ExcellenceSM is widely considered to be the premier event of the year
in the remodeling industry. Scheduled for March 15, 2008 at the Hilton St.
Petersburg Bayfront in St. Petersburg, Florida, the event will be attended by more
than 400 of the industry's elite and is sponsored by the following NARI National
Member companies: Platinum Level: Ferguson Enterprises in partnership with Stock
Building Supply, GE Money, Huntwood Industries, Inc. and The Home Depot; Gold Level:
Pella Corp., Lowe's Commercial Services; Pewter Level: Moen.
To be considered for a CotY Award, a company must be a NARI member in good standing.
NARI members represent an elite group from the approximately 800,000 companies and
individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers.
